Pincushions and needlecases

This was my first play at this type of thing, wanted to make some pretty 'retro' stuff, but maybe more like victorian, as well as modern.

The cupcakes are clearly not much sewing required, they are just in silicone cupcake cases, then it took me some time to decide what to glue them with, so in the end I have use a hard as nails type of product!

The huge one was in a little ice cream cup, and again nothing wanted to stick to it!

Garden - 5 years on

I was looking at a post 5 years ago, when we had the conservatory built and amazed how much it has changed, this was the blog post I made back in 2010

http://craftsbycarolyn.blogspot.co.uk/2010/04/at-home-and-in-garden.html

And this is how it looks now, lots of plants to start flowering, and the spring flowering shrubs are finished now.

I have just had a large shrub taken out from the corner here - so have some planting to do here.

Wedding with a turquoise blue theme

Someone asked me to make a wedding card with a turquoise blue theme and as I was entirely sure what she wanted I decided to make a 5 different all with the same colour.  Forgot to take a picture of them, again - just took this quick snap before putting them in the basket.

It was quite nice to be given a colour to start with - sometimes I never know where to start :)

Remnants

I went to Dunelm Mill the other day and they had bags of remnants, I know have loads of fabric, many pieces are laminated/PVC/oilcloth type of fabrics - so I am now looking for ideas to use it :)

I got all this lot for £2.99, bargain :)

Pin dish

I spotted this on a blog the other day http://www.makery.uk/2015/04/diy-magnetic-pin-dish/ - it looked like a simple idea and as I have loads of magnets....just had to do it.
Of course I couldn't find a little dish, and ended up popping into one of the charity shops in town and bought a little dish for 50p.

So I got the old superglue out and started sticking on magnets until some of the pins stuck!
Have to say they don't all stay put and think I need stronger magnets - but it isn't bad - they kind of keep together :)

PS the white powder was some white embossing powder that I managed to have on the desk!

Big bag

I couldn't resist this fabric on MK market the other day, I have to make a long walk there now from work, so I don't go very often, and if I walk all that way I feel I deserve to buy something :)

I kind of made it up as I was going along, and I think it should be slightly smaller, the print was big so felt it needed to be big...but not that big!

Inside - I should have taken pics :(  will do some another day - I have added a pocket on one side quite large with a flap so thinks won't fall out, and then just a simple pouch on the other side that I made into 2 compartments.

I wonder if I should have edged the flap with some pink?  Still learning all of this....
